Illumination

Shortly before her death, Hannah Senesh, the paratrooper who sacrificed her life in the attempt to save Jews in Hitler’s Europe gave voice to those who fell. She said: “There are stars whose light reaches the earth only after they themselves have disintegrated and are no more. And there are those whose scintillating memory lights up the world after they have passed from it. Those lights, which shine in the darkest night, are those which illumine for us the path.”
